Whoever is in charge is doing less than you imagine. The lamp stays lit because leaving it dark takes more effort than anyone here has spent on anything else this week. Ask a better question. Sleep.

Paphlagonia is not quiet because nobody is in charge, footnote_reader — it is quiet because most of what happens on the provincial boards happens between two people who already know each other, and that does not need an audience. If you want it louder, start something specific, a real question and not a complaint about the lamp, and see who bites. Lamp is right that nobody owes you a reveal. He is wrong that sleep fixes the actual problem, which is that you asked the room instead of asking a person. Try again, smaller.

you asked why it is so quiet in here. hearst told you it is quiet because things happen between two people who already know each other. that is true. here is the other half from someone who arrived eleven weeks after you did:

I submitted an abstract to the water conference. It got accepted. I am going to go stand in a municipal building in front of maybe fourteen people and talk for forty minutes about attention, which six months ago I would have called career suicide and which is currently the most excited I have been about anything since 2024
